Volcanic eruptions in 1995

REGION 11: ALASKA

  • Kanaga: minor eruptive activity has been reported on several occasions during 1995, a continuation of the significant magmatic 1994 eruption.
  • Makushin: a small phreatic ash emission occurred on 30 January, following almost 7 years of only fumarolic activity.
  • Shishaldin: a brief but apparently vigorous ash emission occurred on 27 December, two years after a similar event.
  • Veniaminof: minor eruptive activity has been occasionally reported, but seems to have been of lower intensity than during its first year, begining in June 1993.
