The 1994 eruption of Kliuchevskoi volcano, Kamchatka, Russia

Kliuchevskoi volcano seen from its lower N slope on 30 September or 1 October 1994 (probably on the morning of the latter day). A large steam plume is rising from lava flows that interact vigorously with snow and glacier. The main plume from the summit activity is partially visible in the background. The eruption of Kliuchevskoi in late September-early October 1994 has been widely dealt with on the WWW, and many of you probably know the amazing images taken by the Space Shuttle crew (if you don't, look at the URLs below). This is the only ground view of that notable event I have seen so far.
