Part
2: The story in detail |
|||||||||||
This chapter is a purely descriptive chronology of Stromboli's activity during the decade beginning with the December 1985 eruption (which continued until April 1986) and ending in December 1995, complementing the analytical, summarizing previous section. It is again split into 5 sections (one for the 1985-86 eruption, and others for the periods 1986-88, 1989-91, 1992-93, and 1994-95) which are listed below. For those not interested in reading such a long story, there is an extra page showing only the images displayed here and related figure captions. Activity at Stromboli from 1996 to present is summarized on a separate page Please note that the content on the following pages has been left unchanged from how it was written back in 1995. At that time this site (which by then didn't even have a proper name!) was of a much more personal character, made for the few volcano (and especially Stromboli) enthusiasts who knew of the site and dedicated much time to waiting for the text and images to appear: the connection was via a very slow ftp link. In the meantime the site has changed dramatically and intends to provide scientific and general information for a much larger audience. The pages listed below tell you how a volcano can be "lived" beyond the simple analytical way of observation. The
