Volcanic eruptions in 1995

REGION 13: HAWAII & PACIFIC OCEAN

  • Loihi Seamount: earthquake swarm on 27 April may indicate submarine activity of this volcano, the most recent in the Hawaiian chain. Episodes of intense seismicity occur frequently at this volcano but need not necessarily be connected with eruptive activity.
  • Kilauea: the 13th year of the Pu'u 'O'o-Kupaianaha eruption on Kilauea's East Rift continued all year round with quiet lava effusion and lava lake activity in the crater of Pu'u 'O'o.
