Volcanic eruptions in 1995
REGION 18: ATLANTIC OCEAN
Fogo: lava fountaining and emission of lava flows started on 2 April from the SW flank of the Pico cone within the Chã caldera. Six homes were subsequently destroyed by the lava, hundreds of people had to be evacuated. The activity ended on 28 May.
